A Better Way To Go Akron Canton Airport

University of Akron rocks!

I had the pleasure of taking in Dr. Luis Proenza's state of the university (of Akron) speech today in downtown Akron. It was fantastic! Proenza is one of those rare leaders who can thoughtfully and persuasively layout a plan and attract folks to his position. Today was no exception. He is clear about the University's mission to seed economic development, encourage commercialization of technology patented by researchers at the U, and work with private and public sector leaders to collaborate (like the new BioInnovation Institute, an $80 million partnership with the three major hospitals, Knight Foundation, First Energy, the city and the county).

In planning what's next, Luis simply stated "shift happens." He is referring to a shift towards innovation in a knowledge economy. This is important stuff if you live in an urban Midwestern community like Akron.

Well, I was inspired again. His energy and enthusiasm for all things Akron has me hooked. Go Zips!
