CAK is still in the game

Ok, you will have to forgive me for a full two week hiatus here. I've had a bit of writers block lately. It feels like things in the airline industry are just happening at a dizzying pace. Fuel prices continue to climb, airline mergers are all the rage, and customers are feeling frustrated by more fees and less service. It is just chaotic. If oil reaches $200/ barrel as some folks predict, it is going to shake the industry even more. The shakeout will probably come in the form of higher prices (everywhere…not just for air tickets) and reduced options. Icky, icky, icky.

So, how are things at CAK? In short, we are still in the game. Passenger traffic for the first few months of the year is up. We have had a few service reductions (Delta to Cincinnati for instance) but a couple of gains too (US Airways added one daily trip to Philadelphia and a fifth seasonal flight to Charlotte; Frontier Airlines is adding a third round trip to Denver starting June 30). Our plan is to get our fair share of the domestic US market…whatever it may be after September 1.

It could be a wild ride after that. We will see. One thing is for sure though…we are committed to making the customer experience at CAK as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. We are committed to making the best of this nutty situation. So, the next time you fly CAK, checkout our free Wi-Fi, complimentary shuttle service from our long/ economy parking lots, free waiting lot for arriving passengers and our relaxation station on our Web site. Cheers for now…
