A Better Way To Go Akron Canton Airport

A wild week at CAK

Well to start this wild week off, we hosted Networking in the Middle with Cleveland+ on Wednesday night. 330 young professionals noshed on foods unique to our nonstop flight destinations- Atlanta, Florida, Boston, New York and Denver to name a few. deSol rocked the airport…um literally and figuratively…entertaining the crowd. My favorite part of the event though was the TKG Social lounge. Party-goers live tweeted, posted to our Facebook fan page and played Wii games all night long. It was a blast!

On Thursday night Akron-Canton Airport sponsored Team NEO's State of the Region address, featuring the mayors of Akron, Canton, Cleveland and Youngstown- the region's four core cities. The panel discussion touched on cost reduction, deliver of city services, education and future collaborations. Tom Waltermire also updated the VIP group about some of the encouraging signs of recovery in our region. I didn't know that the unemployment rate in the Cleveland+ region is actually lower than the State's unemployment rate. In the past, our region has lead the state in job loss, so this was especially good news.

Today we are busy putting the finishing touches on a super cool promotion to celebrate AirTran Airways' nonstop flights to Ft. Lauderdale and Ft. Myers which commence November 5, 2009. I am especially psyched about the Ft. Lauderdale service. Great fares to the east coast of Florida- you can reach West Palm, Miami and Ft. Lauderdale easily- will surly be popular.

Also, to top it all off I am running 13.1 miles in the Akron Marathon tomorrow. It'll be a great topper to a wild but fabulous CAK week.
