Green, OH: The Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) is thrilled that United Airlines yesterday commenced nonstop United Express flying to the airline’s New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). New York/ Newark is one of United’s premier international gateways and offers easy train service to Manhattan. The twice daily service will be operated by ExpressJet aboard 50-seat ERJ-145 regional jets.
“This is wonderful news for CAK travelers,” said President and CEO Rick McQueen. “United’s new service offers convenient access to New York City, the east coast and international destinations via Newark. The new flights compliment United’s exceptional daily service to Chicago as well. Two great cities, two great hubs, one great airline. Thanks, United.”
“United has proudly served the Akron-Canton Airport since 1948, and we’re pleased to continue the tradition with new daily flights to our New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport,” said Chuck Bushley, United’s regional sales manager for the Great Lakes region. “The Newark service complements United’s five daily flights to United’s hometown Chicago O’Hare hub, offering area travelers even more choice and convenience.”
Airport and airline officials, local, state and federal representatives and community leaders will raise their glasses in a champagne toast celebrating the new flights on October 26, 2015. CAK also will also host a gate party/press conference with New York themed snacks and our fire department will greet the flight with a water cannon salute.
Additionally, United will add a fifth daily departure from CAK to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) on October 26. Akron-Canton flights to Newark and Chicago are on sale now at united.com, your travel agent and most online travel sites.
