GREEN, OH — Akron-Canton Airport expects a busy holiday travel period in 2025, with more than 23,000 commercial passengers projected to travel through the airport between Dec. 18 and Dec. 28.

The 10-day holiday window represents a notable increase over a typical non-holiday period. Airlines have scheduled about 18% more seats than the previous non-holiday travel period, and with higher load factors common during the holidays, the airport is ready to welcome up to 40% more travelers through the terminal.

Holiday travel volume is also expected to exceed last year’s levels. Airlines have scheduled 54% more seats compared to the 2024 holiday period, reflecting continued demand for air travel in Northeast Ohio and growing confidence from airline partners in the Akron-Canton market. Additional staffing and capacity are in place across airlines, TSA, airport operations, and concessions to accommodate the increase.

“We’re incredibly grateful to our airline partners for adding extra capacity to meet the strong demand we’re seeing this holiday season,” said Lisa Dalpiaz, Vice President of Air Service and Business Development at Akron-Canton Airport. “Most importantly, we thank our travelers for choosing CAK and our dedicated airport and tenant staff who work every day to make the journey welcoming, efficient, and enjoyable for our community.”

No major weather disruptions are currently forecast for the holiday period. Airport snow removal and operations teams remain prepared around the clock throughout the winter season to keep runways and taxiways safe and operational. Travelers should note that weather in other parts of the country may still affect flight schedules and are encouraged to monitor airline apps for real-time updates.

Passengers are advised to arrive 90 minutes early when checking bags and 60 minutes early when carrying on, bring a REAL ID or passport, and review TSA guidelines before traveling.

Despite the increased activity, travelers can expect family-friendly amenities at CAK, including a mother’s lounge, children’s play area, free book Flybrary, accessibility programs, a guest pass option, and pet relief facilities.
