Green, OH – The Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) continues to soar, reporting a 22.58% year-over-year increase in passenger traffic for June 2025 compared to June 2024. A total of 93,896 travelers passed through CAK in June, an increase of 17,297 passengers from the same month last year. Operations also rose significantly, up 16.46% year-over-year.
Even more notably, CAK is outpacing pre-pandemic activity, with June passenger totals up 29.45% compared to June 2019. Looking ahead, the airport is on pace to serve over 900,000 travelers by the end of 2025 marking an increase of more than 10% compared to 2019’s total of approximately 814,000 passengers.
“This growth underscores the strong demand for air service in Northeast Ohio and the confidence travelers have in choosing CAK for their journeys,” said Ren Camacho, President and CEO of the Akron-Canton Airport. “We’re excited to build on this momentum with even more air service options coming this fall.”
Travelers will soon enjoy brand-new nonstop flights launching from CAK:
“These new routes add another level of convenience for our travelers while strengthening CAK’s role as a vital travel hub for our region,” Camacho said. “With more destinations and more choices, we’re confident passenger growth will continue to climb."
CAK Offers the Lowest Average Fare in the Region
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Akron-Canton Airport offers the lowest average airfare in the region as compared to surrounding airports including Cleveland Hopkins (CLE), Columbus (CMH), Pittsburgh (PIT), Detroit (DTW), and Erie (ERI). This cost advantage, combined with CAK’s ease of travel and growing air service options, provides travelers with exceptional value and convenience.
“Airlines listen closely to travelers, and when Northeast Ohio chooses CAK, the airlines respond by adding more flights and more destinations,” said Lisa Dalpiaz, Vice President of Air Service and Business Development at the Akron-Canton Airport. “Our passengers have shown their support, and the airlines are meeting that demand with exciting new options to better connect our community.”
