United Airlines Selects Akron-Canton Airport for New Aircraft

CAK is among the first airports to offer service aboard the Bombardier CRJ-550

United Airlines will roll out its innovative regional aircraft at Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) on January 6, 2020, making CAK one of the first airports to offer service aboard the Bombardier CRJ-550 aircraft.

The CRJ-550 will accommodate 50 passengers, but in a 70-seat passenger aircraft. That means more room, available upgrades, Wi-Fi and onboard storage for those traveling from CAK to Chicago (ORD) aboard United.

“We’re honored that United Airlines has selected CAK to operate the new CRJ-550,” said Akron-Canton Airport CEO and President, Ren Camacho. “Our market has proven successful for their network, and the local business community’s continued support of CAK has been a strong driver in the selection of our market to receive this exceptional upgrade.”

The plane is rolling out across a select group of routes that United operates from Chicago (ORD), Newark/New York (EWR), and Washington Dulles (IAD).

Tickets for flights aboard the CRJ-550 between CAK and ORD are available now on United’s website.

United offers a total of seven daily departures from CAK, including flights to Chicago, Houston and Newark/New York. United will also begin nonstop service from CAK to Washington-Dulles (IAD) beginning May 8, 2020.
