Recent Capital Improvement Grants CAK Customers’ Most Requested Amenity.

Put that ice scrapper away because Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) is excited to open its newest Customer amenity, covered short-term parking. The airport will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 17 in celebration of completing all parking improvements within CAK 2018, the airport’s ten-year capital improvement plan.

“An exceptional Customer experience is our top priority here at CAK, so when we saw the demand for covered parking, we knew this project needed to come to fruition,” said Rick McQueen, President and CEO of Akron-Canton Airport. “We’re excited to offer covered parking among our many convenient, on-site parking options. We believe it’s going to be a great success, especially with the unpredictable Ohio weather.”

Designed by Hammontree & Associates, of North Canton, the $2 million new covered parking area features 250 short-term parking spaces, LED lighting and a covered walkway to the main airport entrance. CAK travelers can enjoy the convenience of covered parking for a daily rate of $18. Additional parking options include short-term (uncovered), long-term and economy. The project was funded by airport operating reserves. Additionally, it is one of the final projects of CAK 2018.

Other recently completed parking lot improvements include an entrance road expansion with improved signage, rental car lot relocation, new entrance/exit plazas and a commercial vehicle lane. CAK has also implemented an upgrade to the CAK Fast Pass system, allowing Customers to get in and out faster than ever.
