GREEN, Ohio: Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) welcomed its 1 millionth passenger of 2026 over Halloween weekend, reaching the milestone earlier than anticipated.
With the holiday travel season ahead, the airport expects to serve up to 1.1 million passengers by year’s end.
Seat capacity increased 30% from 2025, with growth across all four carriers led by Breeze Airways, followed by Allegiant Air.
Launched in 2026, new Breeze routes to Savannah, Georgia (SAV); Sarasota, Florida (SRQ); and Portland, Maine (PWM), expanded options for leisure travelers.
Breeze will base a fourth aircraft at CAK in November as its local crew base continues to grow. Aircraft based at the airport begin and end their daily schedules there, supporting local jobs, improved flight times and more frequent service.
“Reaching 1 million passengers reflects the confidence travelers and our airline partners place in CAK,” said Ren Camacho, CAK President and CEO. “We’re committed to making every journey comfortable and convenient, whether it’s a guest’s first visit or their hundredth. From enhanced concessions and affordable parking to attentive service, we’re investing in what matters most to our travelers.”
Additional seat capacity increases are scheduled for 2027, making it easier for Northeast Ohio to tap into CAK’s 24 nonstop destinations, connections through hubs to destinations worldwide and the region’s lowest average airfares.
| Airport Code | Average Fare |
| CAK | $118.33 |
| CLE | $204.73 |
| PIT | $218.19 |
| CMH | $234.46 |
| DTW | $246.03 |
CAK will celebrate the milestone with a social media contest and in-terminal activities throughout the week to thank guests for their continued support.
