Job Summary:

Maintain and do preventative maintenance on all airport property inside and outside. Responsible for heating and cooling maintenance, parking lot illumination, airfield safety illumination, security gate operators, passenger jet bridges, and fire department.

Essential Functions:

  • Check and do preventative maintenance on all airport property inside and outside. This includes but is not limited to: heating and cooling, parking lot illumination, check/clean/maintain the 15kva, 30kva, and 2400v regulators, repair airfield lights and transformers and wiring between fixtures.
  • Heating and cooling: handle all aspects of repair and maintenance, including but not limited to: check the operation of 12 rooftop units, 11 Aerco boilers, 7 air handlers, and 2 Trane unit chillers, check and repair McQuay units. Air handler operation of motors, including maintenance.
  • Passenger Jet Bridges: ensure safety and cleanliness of bridge, look for damage, and overall efficient operation of the bridge. Conduct regular checks for safety and wear/tear, and handle the maintenance of lighting, oil, and grease, air pressure in tires, doors, locks, etc.
  • Security Gate Operators: maintain the operation of the gate, conduct regular checks for safety and wear/tear, any obstacles, and handle maintenance.
  • General Maintenance: maintain clean painted walls and ceilings, repair as needed: torn carpets and thresholds, broken tile floors and missing grout, and ceiling tiles.
  • Conveyor Belts: maintain safe belts by checking and cleaning plates, maintain cleanliness around the machine, replace oil and grease and repair torn plates as needed, check safety switches, and emergency stops.
  • Fire Fighter as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: High school diploma

Experience: 6 months to 1 year of experience in building maintenance, with airport experience preferred

Specific Skills / Knowledge:

  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of general maintenance / facilities operations (general electrical, plumbing, painting, flooring, ceilings, roofing, HVAC, etc.)
  • State of Ohio Fire Fighter Certification preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities: n/a

Working Conditions / Physical Demands:

Field environment, must be able to stand and walk regularly, lift regularly (up to 50 – 75 lbs.). Exposed to heat and cold on a regular basis.

Interfaces:

Internal: employees, management

External: airlines, customers

Success Factors:

  • Problem solving skills (handle power outages, flooding, roof leaks, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a wide range of people
  • Level head and calm disposition to handle emergency situations
