We win again! CAK flight to DC starts Jan. 25
Posted on 01/05/2009
I am so jazzed. I love winning once but winning twice is well…twice as nice. In case you haven’t heard, Midwest Airlines contested the US Department of Transportation’s slot award to US Airways for CAK-DCA service. Hey, we can’t blame them for trying!
DCA slots are so valuable that airlines will do just about anything to get them. After a bit of back and forth between the airlines and a little letter from our President, Rick McQueen, the US DOT said “US Airways gets ‘em- final answer.” OK, this may be my interpretation of their 5 page response…but it is what really counts.
So, we can say, without a doubt, totally for sure, indisputably, irrefutably, and undeniably that flights to Washington D.C. Reagan National Airport will be starting on January 25, 2009. Flights go on sale January 10th. Book your tickets…on the 10th… at www.usairways.com.
Oh yes, Happy New Year everyone!

I checked fares today also. The US nonstop fare is $100 cheaper than the comparable CO fare from CLE.
The flight is for the traveler who may not have the time for a connection, even if the fare is signficantly higher.
I am glad you saw a fare that you can afford (connection via CLT).
Options are good!
Thanks for reading my blog!

However...the prices are so high, it probably won\'t be used. Connecting in CLT, I can get there for $118 one-way, but nonstop is almost $400 each way.
$800 r/t from DCA to CAK isn\'t worth it nonstop or not.
