The New Gates Have Opened!

We operated our first flight from the new gate concourse today! The passengers and airline employees were excited about the new facilities. We’ve been talking about these new facilities for a year and a half, but it doesn’t really hit you until you can actually operate out of them! The new gates have a great “feel” to them – comfortable and more spacious. I just like to walk out there to see them and to gauge people’s reactions. In the airport business, the most fun you can have is when you announce new air service or you open new facilities. It’s really the essence of the business --airplanes and great facilities with plenty of passengers going places!

Speaking of people’s reactions, it’s fun to just walk around the terminal listening to people’s reaction to the experience at using the Akron-Canton Airport. It’s really the best feedback you can get because people don’t know I’m listening. (Eavesdropping?) Two of the comments yesterday were passengers telling other passengers they were flying with why they use this airport. The common themes were friendliness, simplicity, and ease of use. These are all the elements we use when we’ve formulated our ads for the airport. We base our ad content off what passengers are telling us about using CAK not on what we think it is or what it should be. Someday maybe some of these passengers will tell “Oscar the Punch Dummy” about this place, but for now he is still suffering with congestion and small airplanes!

Dear Fred,

KCAK has become a really nice airport to fly out of. I am a French born guy who now lives in Toronto. I met my fiancee Erin who lives in Akron, online and the first few times I flew air Canada or Continental direct from CYYZ-KCLE to see her. Now that I know about KCAK, I would fly there anytime over Hopkins. I don't mind connecting because I love flying. I usually go through KCVG.

Thank you for such a great airport. The new website truly shows its splendor and puts other airports to shame both websites and airports.

Many blessings!

William

PS: Any chance you guys will be offering direct routes to Toronto in the future? That would be AWESOME :)

PPS: Will be flying into KCAK Saturday May 20th via Comair. Looking foward to seeing the new gates :-)
