Thanksgiving Travel

It’s that time of year again! Because we are all looking forward to a big stuffed bird…but not to the overstuffed birds that will be peppering the sky this holiday season; I’ve got a couple of tips to make your trip a lot more pleasant this weekend.
First, prior to divvying up your essentials into carry-on vs. checked baggage, visit www.tsa.gov for the latest news about the types and sizes of carry-on gels and liquid that will be allowed through gate screening. If you plan to check a bag, I’d recommend putting anything that even remotely resembles a gel or liquid in it instead of dealing with the sometimes inconsistent requirements you may experience at the various airports. Our TSA folks are really great and have plenty of CAK bags to put your 3.4 oz items into, if necessary.
Second, check with your airline about bag weight and quantity restrictions. A 60 pound bag could carry a hefty “oversized luggage” fine. Now wouldn’t that be an unpleasant surprise?
Lastly, confirm your flight time with your airline prior to your departure date. My boss just found out that his flight the Friday after Thanksgiving, was rescheduled without his knowing about it. If he wouldn’t have checked the times, he and his lovely bride would have arrived at the airport two hours late for their flight! Ye gads!
Oh yes, before you leave for the airport, visit our relaxation station and download some relaxing jazz tunes for your MP3 player. It’ll help you get to your destination feeling fine.
Enjoy your holiday!

Happy New Years to my neighbors out at Akron/Canton. Continue the tremendous work you do at your airport. Most airports are jealous of how well you have grown in just a 10 year span, and will continue growing in the future. I have flown it 10+ times in the last couple years, and will continue using it.
Right now my coalition of Airport Supporters are trying to help out the struggling Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. They have done a successful job with flights to Orlando aboard Allegiant Air (ALGT-Nasdaq), but they have not done much since then.
YNG needs to look at how well CAK has done over the years and perhaps take some tips from you guys. You run a very successful operation and should be commended for IT! You earn my award for the best airport in Ohio and the best operation of any government funded operation in the region.
GOOD LUCK IN 2007!
