RNC should fly into Cleveland for 2008 Convention
Posted on 08/16/2006
I just heard from Jerry Masek, the PR manager at the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority. He was looking for more information about greater Cleveland’s second airport- CAK for part of a presentation his boss is preparing for the Republican National Committee’s site selection team.
As many of you know, Cleveland is on the short list of potential locations for the 2008 Republican National Convention. Here’s the cool part… the whole region is pitching in to win this thing. I was delighted to help Joe assemble talking points about our airport. Low fares, short lines and easy access to Cleveland are strong selling points. If Cleveland is selected, we’ll need all the air lift into and out of the city that both airports can provide.
The site selection team is here next week and according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, we have a chance. Ohio is a bellwether political State and important in the upcoming election. Tampa/ St. Petersburg, Minneapolis/ St. Paul, and New York are also in the running. Good luck, Cleveland! We are glad to be part of the team.

Happy New Years to my neighbors out at Akron/Canton. Continue the tremendous work you do at your airport. Most airports are jealous of how well you have grown in just a 10 year span, and will continue growing in the future. I have flown it 10+ times in the last couple years, and will continue using it.
Right now my coalition of Airport Supporters are trying to help out the struggling Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. They have done a successful job with flights to Orlando aboard Allegiant Air (ALGT-Nasdaq), but they have not done much since then.
YNG needs to look at how well CAK has done over the years and perhaps take some tips from you guys. You run a very successful operation and should be commended for IT! You earn my award for the best airport in Ohio and the best operation of any government funded operation in the region.
GOOD LUCK IN 2007!
