Passengers to Fort Myers –
On a recent flight from CAK to Fort Myers I had a chance to talk to a number of passengers concerning their experience at the airport and their connection to the Fort Myers, Southwest Florida area. With respect to the airport experience, the comments I received were about the free WiFi Internet Access in the terminal and the van service to and from the parking areas. Both comments were very positive and underscore the importance of these services. We will work hard to continue providing these services in the future.
With respect to the connectivity of our passengers to the southwest Florida Area, we are all aware of the number of second homeowners from this area in Florida. But I am increasingly hearing from people who are developing business interests in the Fort Myers area and their travel consist of a mix of business and pleasure. Low cost air travel not only serves an existing element but it creates new demand and new “commerce” grows as a result. That’s because low cost air travel is an important form of communication (I like to call it me-mail). It has tremendous power to create and change new business patterns and to change lifestyles. To the three folks I talked to on Saturday’s flight, this is exactly their experience.

I already sent a comment however no response which I certainly could expect from CAK. I had a flight to Ft Myers last Thursday. I arrived at the airport early checked in and departed as the long term lot was full. This forces people into the short term parking at 12.00 per day. The only problem was the long term parking was not full I counted at least 20 open spots, however their sign said it was full. You certainly didn't need to do an inventory to realize the lot was not full as there was a steady stream of traffic going out. I returned to the lot a hour later and the sign still indicated lot full. At this point I gave up and parked in the short term parking.
What an example of inept management. I would like to hear your comments.
