Words cannot describe our sorrow at the recent passing of Fred Krum, our visionary leader for 33 years that we all loved and respected.
Fred taught us valuable lessons about the airport and about life. First, he had unwavering faith that CAK could fulfill an important roll in the regional air transport system and he was right. Under his leadership, we took risks when others said it couldn't be done. We stayed true to the fundamentals of running a great airport- in good and...

A new year and a new route! We are absolutely thrilled that the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded US Airways two slots to fly from Akron-Canton to Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA). It is nearly impossible to add new flights there, yet so many travelers from our community wanted the ease and convenience of the nonstop flight right into the heart of Washington, D.C. The holiday season is my favorite time of year. I am reminded of the many blessings that have come our way in 2008- rolling out CAK2018, a comprehensive 10-year capital improvement plan; celebrating the half way point for our runway 5/23 extension; record breaking passenger levels this summer; and to top the list, new nonstop flights to DC!
We also celebrated the many achievements of Fred Krum, my mentor and CAK visionary for more than 30 years. Fred retired at the end of September....

For the past 26 years, I've learned what it takes to be a strong, generous, thoughtful and prudent leader from my mentor, Fred Krum. His spirit and enthusiasm for "all things airport" will be with me as I continue on this journey.
My goals for the airport are simple. Keep providing vital air transportation...

News headlines aren’t painting a pretty picture when it comes to the airline industry. Fuel prices continue to climb, airline mergers are all the rage, and customers are feeling frustrated by more fees and less service. If oil reaches $200/ barrel as some folks predict, it is going to shake the industry even more. The shakeout will come in the form of higher prices (everywhere…not just for air tickets) and reduced options.
So, how are things at CAK? In short, we are still in the game....
