New opportunities - it is what spring is all about at CAK. As you'll see below there are wonderful opportunities for travelers and our community alike. For travelers, AirTran Airways has added three additional weekly trips (for eleven total trips) to Orlando, just in time for peak summer travel. Plus, Frontier Airlines will be flying the largest jet in their fleet to CAK this summer, the Airbus 320 with 162 seats. Winter has packed quite a punch this year. So far in 2010, more than 38 inches of snow have blanketed our airfield. This level of snowfall often cripples airports across the country but not CAK. Because of our dedicated snow removal team, we haven't closed for one minute during one of the toughest winters on record. Check out these pics and video of our snow team in action!

The wind is at our back as we head into 2010. Already we have celebrated new service to Milwaukee aboard SkyWest Airlines in partnership with AirTran Airways; went out to bid for the final phase of our 5/23 extension and safety upgrade; reappointed two dedicated board members- Beth Houseman and Richard Kempthorn; and helped lots of our 5,000+ Facebook fans relax with free massage coupons.

The Christmas holiday is right around the corner and we are on final approach wrapping up 2009. I am delighted to report to you that even though the economy was a mess this past year, your airport is going to finish the year strong. Despite the bad economic indicators, our passenger traffic is off just slightly this year, making 2009 one of our top three years ever.
