I've been asked lots of questions recently about how sequestration could affect us at CAK. There are a couple of important federal agencies that offer essential services at our airport, so I wanted to make sure you are up to date on this issue.
At this point, despite the lists out there that identify CAK for late night closure, we have no official notification that hours at our FAA Air Traffic Control Tower will be affected. Through the summer, we expect to offer 24-hour air traffic control, as we have for decades.
It is also our understanding that our partners at the TSA will have adequate staff to safely and efficiently operate our security checkpoint and baggage inspection.
What does this mean to you? It means that you can book your flights with confidence that your airport is, as always, going to offer a relaxing and enjoyable experience from your car to your airplane.
We will continue to work with our partners at the FAA and TSA on this matter. Please be assured we will update you if new guidance is issued.
