CAK Connections

In this issue: CAK breaks all-time passenger record, new security checkpoint opens and Santa visits CAK.

Rick McQueen

We are wrapping up another exceptional year at CAK, thanks to you, our Customers, supporters, and fans.  We began 2011 with a strong Customer focus; planning to make your experience even better. So, during the year, we improved our dining and gift offerings, expanded our gate screening area, added an Arrivals screen to our Free Waiting parking lot, and expanded our long term and economy parking lots.

There is more to come in 2012. We’ll build a new firehouse, begin our master plan, add more parking and offer even more benefits for Customers to enjoy while at the airport.
You see, we have an unwavering commitment to making your airport experience as relaxing and pleasant as possible. Add that commitment to the low fares offered by our airline partners, and we hope to welcome even more Customers next year. For now though, please accept our deep gratitude for choosing Akron-Canton Airport when you fly.  Together, we will make great things happen at CAK for years to come.

Thanks to you, CAK has another record-breaking year
Travelers in Northeast Ohio love Akron-Canton Airport and we love them right back. Why? Because you helped us break our all-time passenger record for the second year in a row. At the end of December 14, 2011, our passenger count reached 1,654,000 total passengers, exceeding our all-time passenger tally (1,560,031) set in 2010.
During 2011, monthly passenger records have been set nine out of eleven months! To celebrate, we took photos of our Customers so they would have a souvenir of their historic day at CAK. You can view photos of the party here. But the fun isn't over yet! We still have a few days left in December to go. If you flew out of CAK in 2011, thanks for helping us break another record!

New TSA checkpoint makes CAK even better
As if getting through CAK wasn’t already easy enough; our new TSA screening checkpoint is even more spacious with additional lanes and more elbow room. The entrance to the new checkpoint is just steps away from our airline ticket counters too, shortening the walk and making the experience even easier.

CAK airfares #19 best in the US, lowest in the region
Who doesn’t like low average fares and a relaxing airport experience? More and more travelers are saying yes to that combo platter. As a matter of fact, CAK recently ranked 19th cheapest, out of the top 100 airports in the U.S., in the Q2 2011 Bureau of Transportation Statistics ranking. That is better than Cleveland (#90), Columbus (#35), and Pittsburgh (#24).

Santa Claus is coming to CAK!
If you’re traveling through CAK over Christmas, keep your eyes open for Santa. He'll be stopping by CAK December 22 from 5 am to 8 am, December 23 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm and Christmas Eve from 10 am to 1 pm.  Don’t worry; we’ve worked closely with our Air Traffic Control Tower to allow plenty of clearance for the reindeer, especially on Christmas Eve!
