Green, OH: It’s a new year at Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) and our record-setting pace continues in 2013. CAK is kicking off the year with more Customers in January than ever before. A total of 127,452 passengers traveled to and from the airport during the month, an increase of 1.3 percent compared to January 2012. It also marks the 22nd consecutive record-breaking month for CAK.
“We are thrilled to welcome more Customers than ever to Akron-Canton Airport,” said Rick McQueen, president and CEO. “Our relaxing airport experience coupled with offering the lowest average fare in Ohio and Pennsylvania keeps them coming back, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
Passenger traffic was up on all airlines serving the airport. Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways (now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines) were up ten percent compared to last year. Delta with 27,026 passengers was up ten percent. US Airways carrying 21,611 had an eight percent increase. United Express, carried 6,087 passengers for the month, a 29 percent increase.
