Akron-Canton Airport has busiest September of all time

Posted on 10/27/2011

Green, OH:  There are a million things to do in September but usually,
travel isn’t one of them. Well, you can’t tell that to the record number of travelers that used Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) last month! In September, a total of 138,846 Customers traveled through the airport. The September number beat our previous busiest September set in 2010, by 13,811 passengers, an 11
percent increase. For the first nine months of the year, 1,230,205 total travelers flew CAK, a 4.6 percent increase compared to 2010.
“We are just blown away by the Customer response to our low fares and relaxing airport experience,” said Rick McQueen, president and CEO. “We are so grateful to our exceptional partners in service- from parking lot attendants to
airline gate agents- each partner shares our passion for serving Customers. They help make CAK a better way to go.”
Customers aboard AirTran Airways, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines, increased 16 percent compared to September 2010 carrying 64,300 passengers to six nonstop destinations including Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, Milwaukee, New York and Boston. Delta Air Lines, offering nonstop flights to Atlanta and Detroit, was up 35 percent compared to last year carrying 28,730. With 16,600 passengers, Frontier Airlines with nonstop flights to Denver gained 9 percent.  US Airways, offering nonstop flights to Charlotte, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, gained 3 percent with 20,800 total Customers.
