United Express Jet Veers Off Runway 23 after Safe Landing at Akron-Canton Airport

No injuries to passengers or crew reported

 

Green, OH: After a safe landing at Akron-Canton Airport at approximately 12:04 a.m. this morning, United Express flight5916 (operated by Express Jet Airlines), inbound from Chicago O' Hare International Airport to Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) veered off the runway and came safely to rest in the grass near the midpoint of Runway 23.

Airport safety crews and the Green Fire Department immediately responded to the incident. The Embraer 145 jet was carrying 42 passengers, one infant in arms and three flight crew members.All passengers and crew members were safely unloaded from the aircraft and were transported by airport parking shuttles to the main terminal building. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the incident is unknown and will be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
