Even Better Customer Experience Coming to Akron-Canton Airport

Green, OH: Travelers are in for some sweet treats and a little more elbow room at the Akron-Canton Airport (CAK). After commissioning our big airfield project, the safety upgrade and extension of runway 5/23, the airport is now setting its sights on improving the customer experience inside the building and in our parking lots.

Construction on a new Cinnabon® and expanded gift shop featuring local and national items has already begun. By the end of March, the amazing aromas of freshly baked cinnamon rolls will waft through the main atrium just past gate screening. In addition, Cinnabon® will offer a variety of their delicious specialty drinks. MSE Branded Foods manages both dining and gift services at CAK.

Then in April, we will begin constructing an expanded, spacious security screening checkpoint, giving travelers extra room to prepare for screening and then to organize their belongings once security is cleared. To make way for the expansive security checkpoint, our Subway® restaurant, Buckhead Grill and gift shop will be relocated to the other side of the main concourse. SoL Harris/Day Architecture of Canton, OH, designed the expanded security checkpoint and food court relocation. Click here to see architectural renderings of the two projects. Finally, 350 new automobile parking spots will be added to our long-term parking lot later this summer.

"This year is all about making the experience even better for our customers," said president and CEO, Rick McQueen. "Greater dining variety, more space in the gate screening queue and our parking lots means less stress at the beginning of a trip. These enhancements will make Akron-Canton Airport an even better way to go®."
