Summers are always busy at Akron-Canton Airport and as we move into autumn full bore, I'd like to report on several important milestones that we recently have reached. First, we completed the earth moving work on our primary runway 5/23 extension project. After four years of hauling fill from one site to another, we sure are glad that this part of the job is finished. Now, we begin paving, lighting and enhancing the runway itself.
Next, we took delivery of two brand new, state-of-the-art Rosenbauer 6x6 fire trucks which will further increase airfield safety. Our fire fighters take their job seriously, dropping whatever they may be doing to quickly respond to an emergency. We are proud of their commitment, dedication and skill. We also feel incredibly blessed to have strong support from the City of Green Fire Department. Together, we offer excellent airfield fire coverage for the unlikely event of an aircraft emergency landing at or near CAK.
