Words cannot describe our sorrow at the recent passing of Fred Krum, our visionary leader for 33 years that we all loved and respected.
Fred taught us valuable lessons about the airport and about life. First, he had unwavering faith that CAK could fulfill an important roll in the regional air transport system and he was right. Under his leadership, we took risks when others said it couldn't be done. We stayed true to the fundamentals of running a great airport- in good and bad times.
Additionally, Fred honored relationships and stood by his commitments. He was often heard uttering important truths like "failure is not an option" and "trust your crazy ideas." Fred was the kind of mentor we all hope to be taught by. It is my good fortune that my discipleship lasted for 26 years. I will miss him greatly.
I have already taken many of his strong ideas and principles and integrated them into our new vision for the future. It is the right thing to do and the best way to honor his legacy. As Fred said at the last board meeting he lead, "Our best days are still ahead of us."
You can view our tribute to Fred on our web sitehere and sign our online guest book here.
