Akron-Canton Airport has another record-breaking month: our best September ever!
Green, OH: Put another tick in the win column for the home team, Akron-Canton Airport (CAK). September was another record breaking month, a home run after two grand slams in July and August. More than 121,500 passengers traveled to/from CAK during the month making it the best September in our 62-year history. Compared to the same month last year, the airport hosted 11,525 more passengers in September 2008; a 10 percent increase. Year-to-date more than 1,104,700 travelers have used the airport compared to 1,038,575 last year, a 6 percent increase.
"It may not be the World Series but it sure feels great to hit another one out of the park," said Kristie Van Auken, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing & Communications Officer. "Our amazing lineup of airlines, great low fares and more relaxing experience continue to attract more and more passengers to CAK."
The record breaking September falls on the heels of July which was the airport's best month ever with more 149,000 passengers using CAK and August which was the airport's second best month of all time with 146,000 travelers. Contributing to the strong boarding figures were US Airways with a 50 percent increase from last year, Northwest Airlink (22%), United Express (10%) and AirTran Airways (6%).
