AKRON-CANTON AIRPORT SETS ALL TIME PASSENGER RECORD IN 2006

Green, OH:What do a musical staff, the atomic number for boron, and the Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) have in common? The number five! In 2006, Akron-Canton Airport broke its all time passenger record for the fifth consecutive year. Though a musical staff and boron are forever stuck with the number five, the airport hopes to continue the streak in 2007. For the year, 1,438,304 total (O/D) passengers used CAK, a .3 percent increase compared to 2005.

"It's exciting to have another winning year," said airport director Fred Krum. "Customers continue to appreciate our every day low fares and attention to customer care. We look forward to welcoming even more passengers in 2007."

The airport dedicated its new, spacious, four-gate passenger concourse and celebrated its sixtieth birthday in October 2006.The opening of the new concourse also marked the completion of the airport's $60 million, five-year STAR expansion project.Other elements of STAR included longer runways, a new baggage claim wing, additional car parking, and a new Arby's and Great Lakes Brewing Company brew pub. Additional information including flight reservations, driving instructions, and a relaxation station is available at www.akroncantonairport.com, CAK's new web portal.Akron-Canton Airport, a better way to go®.
