Celebrating new nonstop flights to Boston
Green, OH: The savings are coming! The savings are coming! The Akron-Canton Airport and AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI), today are celebrating new daily nonstop flights between Akron-Canton Airport and Boston's Logan International Airport. The Service began last Saturday, June 5, 2004.
"We realize travelers in Northeast Ohio are in need of low-fare flights to the East Coast, so we're pleased to be able to offer this new nonstop service to Boston," said Kevin Healy, AirTran Airways vice president - planning and sales.
"We've seen significant demand for our nonstop service from Akron-Canton to Atlanta, New York – LaGuardia, Orlando and Tampa, and we expect the Boston route to be just as popular with both business and leisure travelers." "Northeast Ohio travelers are clearly ready to save some beans to Boston," said airport director Fred Krum. "Passengers from throughout the region are filling up AirTran Airways' brand new Boeing jets to one of the country's most popular destinations."

The announcement comes at the beginning of a big week for AirTran Airways, as the low-fare provider is accepting delivery of the first of 100 new Boeing 737-700 aircraft on Wednesday, June 9. AirTran Airways already operates the youngest all-Boeing fleet in the United States, and this summer XM Satellite Radio will be added to all its aircraft. Seats from Akron-Canton to Boston are now available for purchase.

In addition to the new Boston route, AirTran also offers nonstop daily flights to Atlanta, New York and Orlando and Tampa from CAK.
The Boyd Group of Evergreen, Colorado recently ranked Akron-Canton as the fastest growing airport in the country (2003-2008). To accommodate the additional passengers, the Airport is currently in the third phase of the $70
million, five-year STAR expansion project, which will focus on building a new $24 million gate concourse and a new Shuffel Road interchange. The first two phases included longer runways, a new baggage claim wing, additional car parking and a food court with national brands.
