New Rules Make Air Travel Easier
Posted on 09/25/2006
Really great news came in today from the TSA (that’s Transportation Security Administration for those of you not in the biz).
Beginning tomorrow, you can bring your toothpaste and shampoo to the airport in a carry-on bag! Okay, the items have to be 3 oz or less and must fit in one, quart-sized, clear plastic zip-top bag but I’m not complaining! I have a wonderful Chanel® concealer that will fit nicely in that plastic baggie (and then in my overnight/ rolling travel luggage). Ah, life is good! This might seem like a little thing, but it’s not. Checking everything was a huge hassle. It meant waiting in a long ticket line and then waiting again at the baggage carousel. It easily added an hour of travel time to every trip. Of course, I’m not a fan of liquid explosives on an airplane either, so I can see why the rule was in place. This seems like a reasonable compromise. I can even take a small bottle of water through screening.
Speaking of water, once you clear gate screening, you can also purchase water and take it on the airplane with you; another bonus! My husband got very, very parched on a recent flight CAK-DEN-LAS. He wasn’t pleased at all and drank a gallon of water upon his return to Ohio.
Don’t forget a little CAK perk… we have convenient traveler totes that you can throw your 3 oz. liquids into, if you don’t happen to have a quart-size bag handy while you are packing your things. Just one more reason way Akron-Canton Airport is a better way to go.

Happy New Years to my neighbors out at Akron/Canton. Continue the tremendous work you do at your airport. Most airports are jealous of how well you have grown in just a 10 year span, and will continue growing in the future. I have flown it 10+ times in the last couple years, and will continue using it.
Right now my coalition of Airport Supporters are trying to help out the struggling Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. They have done a successful job with flights to Orlando aboard Allegiant Air (ALGT-Nasdaq), but they have not done much since then.
YNG needs to look at how well CAK has done over the years and perhaps take some tips from you guys. You run a very successful operation and should be commended for IT! You earn my award for the best airport in Ohio and the best operation of any government funded operation in the region.
GOOD LUCK IN 2007!
