Airport Staff and employees

Many of you might not realize what a small group of employees the airport actually has in its work force. The majority of employees that customers usually see are employed by outside vendors and airlines. But in reality the airport employees are the ones that you see less of, but provide you with the confidence of knowing that a very dedicated group is insuring your comfort and safety while you’re here.

CAK has three employee groups which have somewhat unique responsibilities at our facility but also work together to create the experience that makes our facility “a better way to go.”  Field maintenance provides for the overall care of the outside of the facility. They are the ones that keep the runways safe in the winter from snow and ice and beautify the grounds in the summer. Their dedication to keeping our airport open in extreme weather is something they take great pride in and enables our carriers to continue their operations.

Building maintenance employees change hats on a regular basis providing great overall upkeep of our facility. They fix anything that is broken and do maintenance on the structure to keep it in top shape. One day might require mending a roof while another would be repairing broken landing lights on the field. If they weren’t here the place just would not work as well and customers may become annoyed if they were to a spot broken door or a jetway that was not functioning properly.

Finally the group that everyone would miss, because almost everyone that visits CAK uses what they care for, is our custodial staff. They have the job of keeping the place almost spotless, which has been quite a chore because of all the construction that has been taking place here recently. Their dedication to their work shows up everywhere when you see clean restrooms and shinny floors. Feel free to give them a hand and put your trash in any number of our handy containers.

Hope this gives you a clear picture of how it all works. These employees are the ones that you would notice if they weren’t here every day. They make the place what is and are always available to answer a quick question. If you see one of them while at the airport also say thanks, they’re the ones making your travel day pleasant!
