Happy Birthday CAK
We celebrated our 60th Anniversary and dedicated our new concourse today.
It was a great party! We started with a yummy luncheon salad and then had a couple of pols chat up the airport. The highlight though was a super-charged presentation charting historical milestones. We set the “new millennium” segement to Lenny Kravitz’s “I want to fly away” and it pumped up the crowds. What a blast!
After that we escorted our 120 guests through gate screening (not so much of a blast… but it went okay) to dedicate the concourse. We had a cake shaped like our new terminal and it was awesome! We served about 310 pieces of cake to guests, passengers and airport employees. It was good cake too. The Gov said a few words as did our patron saint, Congressman Ralph Regula.
This was the classic moment, we had planned to have four long serving employees unfurl groovy banners… and 3 of the 4 didn’t come down. Ughhhhhh. Now mind you, we practiced twice! Oh well, the crowd really seemed to enjoy it. I was a bit horrified but if that’s the worst thing that ever happens, life will have been kind to me.
Happy Birthday CAK! Let’s hope the next 60 years are as good as the last.

Do you think there will ever be a time when the general "Non-Ticketed" public will be allowed to see and experience all the improvements that have taken place at CAK? Our airport is such an example for the entire nation. An "Open House" would be great.
I understand the security concerns that we now have, but so many people still do not know why CAK is so popular.
