Frontier Airlines Rocks!

Posted on 07/01/2009

I was in Denver yesterday with Joyce visiting Frontier Airlines at the G-O. We had great meetings all day- sales, corporate communications, marketing, planning and scheduling. Frontier folks work exceeding hard to build a quality brand based on customer service. I particularly loved the DirectTV®! I was able to watch a new show called Saving Grace on TNT, on the way home and it sure helped pass the time. And even though the flight was 100% full, the cabin still felt roomy thanks to the great big Airbus 319 fuselage.

If you can believe it, we flew to Denver and back in the same day. Don’t you think that is amazing? I mean, we had the privilege of meeting face-to-face with our airline partner without having to spend the night…all the way out west! After 13 years in the business, I am still star-struck by this industry. Although there is always one crisis or another, flying is still the coolest way to travel.

Thanks Frontier for such a great service to our community and for such a great trip yesterday.

Southwest operates no fewer than 9-12 flights to multiple hubs in all the cities they serve, and that game plan is not likely to change. Since Cleveland and Columbus currently do not have nonstop service on SWA to Denver, its conceivable that they would shift the 4 combined daily flights from each of Akron and Dayton respectively to the 2 larger operations. Being in Dayton we are more optimistic that Southwest will choose to expand here in order to tap the Cincinnati market they currently do not have access to. Cleveland is too close for Southwest to turn Akron into a \"new city\" and expand in a big way and would not fit their model. Akron would be better off if Frontier is bought by Republic Airlines and operations left intact.

Southwest has proven with past acquisitions in the 80\'s that they will drop cities that they cannot or desire to expand in, including Fresno, Eugene OR, Colorado Springs, Miami, and Anchorage.

We don't know yet what impact the SWA bid for Frontier will have on our community. CAK-DEN is a strong route, so we are optimistic.

One thing is for sure, we are committed to preserving quality service west from Akron-Canton.

Thanks so much for reading my blog!

I love Frontier, but what are the chances of Southwest keeping the Akron route if they outbid Republic for the airline? I\\\'m out in Denver now and would hate to see Frontier go away, which is looking quite possible with Southwest in the picture.
