1. What are the different types of parking?  

Short Term: Is the closest parking to the terminal building. Daily and hourly rates apply. It is the most convenient but expensive parking option. There is no time limit in this lot.

Long Term: Offers easy access to terminal although it is further than short term. Daily and hourly rates apply. It is cheaper than short term parking and designed for travelers planning to leave their vehicle at the airport for more than two days. Around- the- clock free shuttle service to the terminal is always available. Weekly discounts are automatically applied.

Economy: Is the most affordable parking option. Although it is further away from the building than the short and long term lots, it is serviced with around- the- clock free shuttle service to the terminal. Daily as well as hourly rates apply. This lot is perfect for travelers planning to leave their vehicle at the airport for an extended period of time (three or more days). Weekly discounts are automatically applied.

Free Waiting Area (commonly referred to as a Cell Phone Lot): is located adjacent to the terminal. If you are waiting to pick up a passenger, you may sit in your parked car until the person arrives. Vehicles must be attended at all times.

2. May I park, even for a few minutes, in front of the terminal?

No. Please do not park in front of the terminal. Because of heightened security measures, vehicles left unattended at the terminal curb will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.

3. How early should I arrive for my flight?

We suggest that you show up 90 minutes before a domestic flight in the early morning and at around 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Most other times of the day, 60 minutes is sufficient.

4. Where can I get a taxi?

Ground transportation including taxi, car rental and limousine service, is available at the south end of the terminal adjacent to baggage claim. Click here for a map.

5. Can I escort a person with special needs to their flight?

In most cases, yes. This requires a gate pass issued by the airline and a valid, government issued, photo id. When you check in at the ticket counter, ask an airline representative to issue a gate pass. For more information, please contact the airline prior to arriving at the airport.

6. I have an elderly person flying out that will need special assistance.

Special assistance for elderly and /or disabled passengers should be arranged directly with your airline in advance. Sky Caps are available on the terminal front for additional assistance.

7. How do I request a wheelchair or other assistance for an elderly or disabled passenger or for a child traveling alone?

Please check with the airline that issued the ticket for the person who is traveling prior to your travel date and when you arrive at the terminal.

8. How many carry-on items are allowed?

As a general rule two. Please limit your carry-on items to one carry-on bag plus one personal item, such as a laptop computer, purse, briefcase or camera case. Check with your airline for size restrictions and other rules.

The airlines and Transportation Security Administration currently do not require a valid form of identification from passengers under the age of 18. Please visit www.tsa.gov for additional information on security screening.

13. What are the hours of operation for airport concessions and gift shops?

14. Does the airport offer Internet access?

Free Wi-fi Internet access is available throughout the terminal. CAK Free Web Access also provides a computer with free Internet access for passengers to use. The computer terminals are located near the information desk and post-screening near the Java Coast coffee kiosk. A computer with fax/printing capabilities is located post-screening in the COSE Business Club and is open to all travelers.

16. Where do I go for lost baggage?

Call your airline, visit their ticket counter or contact an airline customer service agent for further information. Lost baggage is the sole responsibility of the airline you are flying.

17. What items can I bring through the security line?

Most personal items can be carried through gate screening. There are prohibited items such as fire arms, cigarette lighters, knives and other dangerous objects that will be confiscated or require law enforcement. 18. Where can I find an ATM?

There are two ATM machines located at CAK. An ATM machine is located in the north end of the ticket-wing next to the gift shop and adjacent to the AirTran Airways ticket counter. A second ATM machine is located in the main atrium, just past the security checkpoint.

19. How can I check on a flight’s status?

Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS) are located throughout the terminal and provide information about flight arrivals, departures, and gates. The same information is available in real time on the airport’s Web site (click here). You may also contact the airline for information about a specific flight by calling the respective reservation number.

20. What are the food & beverage options at CAK?

The pre-screening food court includes Subway, Buckhead Grill, and JJ’s Sports Bar.

A Java Coast Coffee Kiosk, featuring gourmet coffees and drinks is located past screening.

The post-screening food court features an Arby's and Great Lakes Brewing Company.

There is also a snack bar in the gate area, serving Nathan’s Hotdogs and a selection of other prepackaged items.

21. What identification is required to clear security?

Passengers age 18 and older must present photo identification, such as a passport, driver’s license or a military ID, issued by a local, state or federal government agency, or two forms of non-photo identification such as a Social Security card, one of which must have been issued by a state or federal agency. For more information, call the TSA Contact Center toll-free at (866) 289-9673 during the following hours: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m., and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. You may also e-mail TSA at ContactCenter@dhs.gov.

22. How do I contact airport Lost & Found?

If you lost an item at a Security Screening Checkpoint, call the Transportation Security Administration toll free at 1-866-289-9673 , or click here to send a message. If an item was lost on a flight, please contact the airline directly. For items lost in other parts of the airport terminal, call airport information at (330) 896-2385. If you are not sure where an item was lost, please contact both the TSA and airport information.

23. Does the airport offer luggage-storage facilities?

There are no lockers in the terminal. For security reasons, you must keep carry-on items with you at all times. Unattended baggage will be removed and may be impounded. Smarte Cartes are available, but cannot be taken past screening.

24. How can I have someone paged in the terminal?

Please call (330)-896-2385 (Akron) or (330) 499-4221 (Canton). If you are at the airport and need to page someone, you may visit the Information Desk. Paging is not available in the airport past 8:00 p.m.

25. Where can I smoke inside the airport?

Smoking is prohibited inside of the airport terminal. Smoking is only available outside the airport entrance in a designated smoking section.

26. Where can I get tourism information about Northeast Ohio?

The Canton/ Stark County CVB and Akron/ Summit County CVB jointly staff the information center in the terminal, where visitor’s guides, maps and other literature are available. For links to restaurants, hotels and attractions, please visit the Around Town section of this website.

28. With the new security measures, may I still drop off a passenger for a flight?

You may continue to drop passengers off at the terminal curbside as long as the driver remains with the vehicle at all times. The vehicle should not be left unattended while in the designated loading and unloading areas. Vehicles are prohibited from parking in front of the terminal. Unattended vehicles left terminal curbside and any other illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed and may be towed.

29. Do I have to pay for a checked bag?

It depends on which airline you fly. Some airlines have you pay for a checked bag while some only want you to pay for a second checked bag. Click on your airline to see what their policy is on checked bags.

30. I just want to pick up\drop off a passenger. Do I still have to pay for parking?

No. Park in our Free Waiting Area (commonly referred to as Cell Phone Lot). If you are waiting to pick up pick up a passenger, you may sit in your vehicle until the person arrives. Vehicles must be attended at all times.

31. Is the airport still going forward with its $110-million Capital Improvement Plan, CAK 2018?

We are moving ahead with CAK 2018, our 10-year plan which was kicked off in 2008. The plan is the most ambitious in the airport's 63-year history and includes a 600 ft. runway expansion allowing full-sized jets to reach the west coast, Caribbean and Mexico. 32. What is CAK Fast Pass and how do I get one?

CAK Fast Pass makes it easier for the frequent travler to park in any of the airport's parking lots. Travelers flash their Fast Pass and are on their way out of CAK even faster. No parking ticket to lose and no waiting pay. Travelers can sign up for their Fast Pass card at www.cakfastpass.com. Fast Pass links to the pre-authorized credit card of your choice, your card lets you enter and exit any of our lots through designated Fast Pass lanes.

33. What time does checkpoint screening close?

It closes everyday at 7:15 p.m. regardless of your flight time. Most of our departures are before 8:15 p.m. so you should have no problem getting through the line before security closes. Even if your flight is delayed, be prepared to go thru screening by 8:15 p.m. Also check the status of your flight with your airline.
