Fred is back!

So many folks throughout the region, from Congressman Tim Ryan, to Akron/ Summit County CVB president Susan Hamo, to Todd Payne at the Cleveland Airport, to Denny Saunier at the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce and literally hundreds of others, have expressed amazing support for our airport director Fred Krum.
Fred had a brain tumor removed about two months ago. The surgery went well, thankfully. He has some paralysis in his right arm, but that is the only physical sign of his very life altering diagnosis and treatment.
He is back in the office part-time, working on core issues and of course, sharing his journey through really tough times. What I find amazing is his drive, his new compassion for others’ suffering, and his ability to inspire our team even during his most challenging moments.
Fred is one of those rare individuals who can touch so many folks with his leadership, vision and humility. I am so grateful for 11 years of service to such a man. I’ve learned so much and know that future teachings will be no less valuable to me, to the airport, or to our community.
If you have sent a note, prayed or just sent positive energy out into the universe; please know that it is deeply appreciated. We are after all, connected to each other, through the touch and imprint of amazing people like Fred Krum.

Happy New Years to my neighbors out at Akron/Canton. Continue the tremendous work you do at your airport. Most airports are jealous of how well you have grown in just a 10 year span, and will continue growing in the future. I have flown it 10+ times in the last couple years, and will continue using it.
Right now my coalition of Airport Supporters are trying to help out the struggling Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. They have done a successful job with flights to Orlando aboard Allegiant Air (ALGT-Nasdaq), but they have not done much since then.
YNG needs to look at how well CAK has done over the years and perhaps take some tips from you guys. You run a very successful operation and should be commended for IT! You earn my award for the best airport in Ohio and the best operation of any government funded operation in the region.
GOOD LUCK IN 2007!
