Fly AirTran from Akron-Canton to Las Vegas!
Posted on 08/16/2007
Ok, we had the best inaugural flight party ever yesterday. We ran an online contest to select a couple to be wed in Las Vegas, including a 3 night stay at the very glam Venetian Hotel and a full wedding package at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. We were really looking for a fun and unique way to celebrate AirTran Airways’ inaugural flight to Vegas… and this totally fit the bill.
We decorated AirTran Gate 10 like a Vegas wedding chapel; feather boa stanchions, hot pink up-lights, a wedding cake with a dice topper and two huge urns flanking the podium. It was really a sight to see. Plus, when the wedding couple boarded the plane we had the other passengers blow bubbles to commemorate their matrimonial journey. They just loved it!
The contest winners, Melanie and Chris, are big fans of Elvis so this was the perfect match because as a lot of you know, it is the 30th anniversary of Elvis’s death. Our Elvis impersonator was fantastic (he looked like a mix of 1969/70 Elvis and 1989 Kurt Russell). He struck a mean Elvis pose and crooned like the King himself. I’m an Elvis fan if you can’t tell.
Melanie and Chris get married tonight at 6:00 p.m.! If you think about it…send a little love and positive energy their way.

Happy New Years to my neighbors out at Akron/Canton. Continue the tremendous work you do at your airport. Most airports are jealous of how well you have grown in just a 10 year span, and will continue growing in the future. I have flown it 10+ times in the last couple years, and will continue using it.
Right now my coalition of Airport Supporters are trying to help out the struggling Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. They have done a successful job with flights to Orlando aboard Allegiant Air (ALGT-Nasdaq), but they have not done much since then.
YNG needs to look at how well CAK has done over the years and perhaps take some tips from you guys. You run a very successful operation and should be commended for IT! You earn my award for the best airport in Ohio and the best operation of any government funded operation in the region.
GOOD LUCK IN 2007!
