Five Years and Counting

Posted on 01/31/2007

Last week we were delighted to report that in 2006 we recorded our fifth consecutive year of growth. Last year 1,438,304 passengers used Akron-Canton Airport, an increase of .3% over 2005. We are extremely happy to be in a plus position, even though it was small. Frankly, we’ve been used to much larger increases in the past, but this is before the day of $50-$80 a barrel oil prices. These higher oil prices have made it more difficult to grow, not just at CAK, but every airport in the country.

What does higher oil prices mean for 2007? Well, for us, we are predicting our sixth consecutive year of growth. It might be small again, but we have become even more aggressive in our efforts to attract service and to attract new passengers who can take advantage of the great experience of using CAK.

We really appreciate the support by you, the passenger. Every time you fly from CAK, it’s like a vote to the airlines that you want to support their service from Akron-Canton and you’d like to see more. The more people flying from CAK makes for a more compelling story to the airlines for additional service. Airlines love to add service where they are enjoying success. So thanks for making 2006 another record year, and let’s set another record in 2007. Let’s just keep making a great thing even better.
