First Day of Spring!
Yes, it's finally arrived in Northeast Ohio and the sun is actually coming out of the clouds, WOW! With spring comes spring break which has already started for some. Just a few steps before coming to the airport could save you valuable time if air travel is in your near future.
First take the time to educate yourself about security rules at the airport. Please know that international travel requires passports and that student ID's from colleges must also have another form of ID to prove who you are. This other form of ID would be a credit card, library card, etc. Only a current driver's license or passport works as a stand-alone form of identification. If you are unclear about this, contact your carrier and ask what will be accepted, or check the TSA website for information. We don't want any of you missing your plane to sun and fun because you left your ID at home.
The other important thing to remember is what you can carry on the aircraft. The days of taking alcohol, wine, or beer in your carry-on are gone. Go to our website, www.akroncantonairport.com and click on TSA regulations for all the details. In a nutshell, all liquids must fit in a quart bag. Don't worry, we have them at our security line, and each container must not have more than 3.3 ounces in them. Yes, you may pack alcohol in your checked bags only, but remember to take the time to wrap accordingly. Bags tend to get thrown around when loaded, and that dark rum might make quite a mess out of your white spring dress. My suggestion would be to shrink or bubble wrap it if necessary.
Hope these tips can save someone a headache. Enjoy the warm days ahead!
