Cool Cleveland Rocks Akron-Canton (CAK)
Posted on 10/01/2007
The stars aligned for our Cool Cleveland/ WAPS The Summit (91.3 FM) party at the airport last Friday. I’ve never felt so much energy in one place! There were young professionals from throughout the region, many from the Cleveland area, that have never seen our airport. It was so cool to see the cross pollination, if you will, of the party-goers. Folks who listen to the Summit found out about CoolCleveland.com and folks at CoolCleveland.com hooked up with folks from the region’s ultra cool southern flank in the Akron-Canton area.
The food was outstanding; thanks 356th Fighter Group. My friends couldn’t stop talking about the crab cakes! The tunes were loud and hip. The volunteers were awesome. And I didn’t even mind the slightly warm Chardonnay.
Folks were so jazzed about potentially winning airline tickets aboard AirTran Airways. We chatted up their nonstop destinations, free XM Satellite Radio and business class seating on every flight. This very cool guy named Wendell won the prize and he was soooo excited!
After noshing on food and having a little beverage, we went to the totally cool MAPS Air Museum for a live plugged-in performance by a band named DeSol. These boys know how to rock a house. The lead singer has rock-n-roll hair and he knows how to use it. This band was so tight. I just couldn’t believe it. Some bands are good in studio but not so good on stage. Not these guys. You have to see them to really love them and I’m hooked. Consider me the #1 DeSol groupie; though I think I may have to fight for the title. Their show was so good I’d guess that most of us who saw it are big fans now.
Thanks CoolCleveland and The Summit for being such great partners and for helping us put up the best party of the year.

Happy New Years to my neighbors out at Akron/Canton. Continue the tremendous work you do at your airport. Most airports are jealous of how well you have grown in just a 10 year span, and will continue growing in the future. I have flown it 10+ times in the last couple years, and will continue using it.
Right now my coalition of Airport Supporters are trying to help out the struggling Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. They have done a successful job with flights to Orlando aboard Allegiant Air (ALGT-Nasdaq), but they have not done much since then.
YNG needs to look at how well CAK has done over the years and perhaps take some tips from you guys. You run a very successful operation and should be commended for IT! You earn my award for the best airport in Ohio and the best operation of any government funded operation in the region.
GOOD LUCK IN 2007!
