Cleveland+ Airports Working It

Posted on 02/26/2009

I have had such an incredibly busy yet interesting two weeks! First, I was fortunate enough to attend the Routes air service conference in Cancun, Mexico. We want to learn about the viability of a federal inspection facility (customs) at CAK.

I found out that yes, we have potential to develop some vacation flying from CAK. Now we have to determine the timing of funding and facilities. More on this later.

Then, CAK was prominently featured in a USA Today article regarding stimulus funding for airports. The story featured great photos of an AirTran Airways’ Boeing 737-700 taking off from the airport and one of a huge earth mover that we shot during our Half Way There ceremony last summer.

Plus, AirTran’s last fare sale set of a complete media frenzy in our local market. Fox 8 recorded a sweet story about the great deals from Akron-Canton. It is clear that pricing leadership comes from the Southern flank of the Cleveland+ region.

Now, Elizabeth and I are busy preparing proposal for Network 2009, which begins this Sunday. Rick and I have eight airline meetings. Cleveland Hopkins is a sponsor of the event, so our region will be well represented in Dallas. Yippee!!

So I am going to sign off now…many more proposals are waiting…
