CAK promotes Cleveland+ in LA

Posted on 08/08/2008

I was in LA last week during the earthquake. Yup, I was in my hotel room on the 8th floor when the building began to rumble. Fortunately, the Omni is designed perfectly to withstand a 5.8 quake and you would have never known 5 minutes after it happened, that an earthquake had hit the place at all.

What was I doing in LA? Well, Elizabeth and I were attending the NBTA National Conference and Exhibition. That’s where all of the nation’s largest corporations send their travel management teams to learn best practices, meet one-on-one with business partners and have a little fun. The opening event featured a concert by Cyndi Lauper. She was amazing in concert. You would never believe that she is 55. She bopped all over the stage and into the audience. Plus, Elizabeth and I rushed the stage. Wee hoo!

When we weren’t being entertained, we were forging closer relationships with our airline partners, educating the biggest corporations in the U.S. about the Cleveland+ region and its two great airports, and getting a look at the newest innovations in business travel management.

The trip was excellent…but I couldn’t have done without the earthquake. Thank heavens it wasn’t “the big one.”
