CAK Offers Best Air Fares in Northeast Ohio
While driving to work this morning I heard on Magic 105.7 news that Cleveland Hopkins had lower fares than Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Detroit, according to a study done by the US Department of Transportation (DOT). I would first of all like to congratulate them on having lower fares than these three cities. Having said that, let’s really look at what the report said. The report places Cleveland Hopkins as one of the 40 “most expensive” airfare cities in the country overall, even though Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Detroit are higher. The report also shows that overall Akron-Canton ranks sixth in the nation as the “least expensive” airport in the country, behind only Atlantic City, NJ, Long Beach, CA, St. Petersburg, FL, Chicago Midway, and Long Island, NY.
It’s also interesting to note that Cincinnati has the highest airfare in the country. That’s usually the case where one airline has an 85% dominance in a market. But who cares about airfares in Cincinnati and Detroit? If you are flying from Northeast Ohio, you want to know about airfares at Cleveland and Akron-Canton. Do you want to fly from the airport with the 6th lowest fare in the country with a far better airport experience (just ask Oscar the Punch Dummy) or the Airport that’s ranked as one of the 40 most expensive?

How about an airline offering service to Boston's version of CAK, Manchester Airport? Like CAK vs. CLE, Manchester is small, clean, and easy unlike crowded and slow Boston Logan.

Not to sound mean at all, those clown commercials are clever, but is there any end in site! When I watch the news on any Youngstown station: 21WFMJ-27WKBN-33WYTV, all I see is AirTran Commercials and the clown commercials. Many of these ad's for Orlando... Then the competition pops in, I then will see Allegiant Air to Orlando for 79 and Southwest to Orlando for 89 like AirTran!
Fred.. Is there any end in site! Is there really that big a fight for the Youngstown market!!
