CAK 2018 beginning of new era

Posted on 03/14/2008

What a rush! We just launched CAK 2018, our $110 million capital improvement plan on Wednesday. For the first time in our history, the story made the front page of four papers in the region- The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Akron Beacon Journal, Canton Repository and the New Phili Times-Reporter. We feel so blessed by the regional interest in our expansion.

We partnered with the Cleveland Engineering Society to launch the plan at their 56th annual design conference and exposition. Some folks thought we were nuts to take the show on the road but we thought it was important to get these projects in front of the partners that will be helping us dream, design and construct our 10 projects. It was standing room only in the ballroom; engineers oozing from every isle.

Friends and partners from the Canton Regional Chamber, the Greater Cleveland Partnership, Team NEO, Traveline Travel, Professional Travel and Frontier Airlines joined our trustees and staff to celebrate the announcement too. Thanks everyone!

On a bittersweet note, we really missed having Fred there. He is in Florida until the end of April. Rick and I felt his presence though, as we laid out the many exciting projects we intend to build over the next 10 years.

Well, it is the beginning of a new era at Akron-Canton Airport and as Fred recently said, “Our best days are still ahead of us.”

Wow, this is exciting! Even though I live in Montana still, I'm exciting to see the artist rendering!
