Wow, have the airlines been making the news or what? The latest announcement that impacts Cleveland+/ Northeastern Ohio is of course, Continental Airlines' recent cut back in service to their Cleveland Hopkins hub.
Before I go into that, let me just say that the entire airline industry (and therefore airports and communities too) is hugely impacted by soaring oil/ fuel prices. Many industry pundits have said that this could be worse and last longer than the 9/11 tragedy that also shocked the industry. The...

Whew! I am finally close to being caught up after a 2 ½ day trip to the AAA Annual meeting in Hollywood, Florida.
I was recently appointed to the board of directors of our local Summit county/ Akron AAA- a 110,000 member club with great staff and dynamic board. There is a new hotel in town and boy is it nice! I had the privilege of attending the grand opening of the Cambria Suites just one exit north of the Akron-Canton Airport, last night. It is modern, totally teched out (free wi-fi, flat screen TVs everywhere) and really cool. Every room is a suite with the sleeping area separated from the work space. Nice. The suites are 25 percent larger than standard hotel rooms and the bedding is beautiful. I travel...

Can you believe how much trouble the airline industry is having these days? Holy cow. ATA, Aloha and Skybus are all bust. These cash strapped carriers told passengers to collect their ticket refund from their credit card company…cuz they don't have any money left. Yikes!
That triggered the credit card companies to target smaller yet stable carriers like Frontier Airlines. Overnight, because of this crazy dynamic, Frontier's access to their cash was in jeopardy. So, to stop the credit card company from limiting its access...
