It is hard to believe that another week is coming to a close here at CAK. I recently moved into Rick's old office and now, I have an incredible view of the sun setting beyond our runways. It is so magnificent!
I love my new job and I love the energy and enthusiasm of our CAK team members. They really do make this airport a better way to go. So, as I leave for the weekend I just want to express my gratitude...

I had the pleasure of taking in Dr. Luis Proenza's state of the university (of Akron) speech today in downtown Akron. It was fantastic! Proenza is one of those rare leaders who can thoughtfully and persuasively layout a plan and attract folks to his position. Today was no exception. Wow! The last few weeks have been so busy and so exciting that I haven't had even a spare moment to share with you what's happening. So, let me bring you up to speed on some really cool stuff:
Rick McQueen was named President and CEO of the airport. He is a 26 year veteran at CAK and is a really nice guy. He is a shrewd financial manager (penny pincher really better suits his financial style), a top notch administrator with a vision for our...

I am still trying to wrap my arms around it. My boss, my mentor, my hero in so many ways is retiring from the airport. I know stuff like this happens all the time but I guess that doesn't make this much easier.
I sent Fred a note today thanking him for believing in me. For believing in the potential of this place and its people. For standing tall when most would bow down. Fred Krum is an amazing leader and his physical presence will...
