Another FAQ I always get is, “Are we going to get any new Air Carriers soon?” In fact I just got asked that question Wednesday afternoon walking through the terminal. Usually that question is followed by another inquiry, “Are we going to get Southwest?” The answer I give is, “No we are not getting new Airlines and with all respect to Southwest Airlines, we have something better.” With all due difference to my friends at Southwest they are a great airline and most communities would love to have them, so let me explain what I mean by better.

First of all we’ve got 6 great airlines with great destinations and between the 6 carriers we have the ability to go all the places we need on our wish list for the foreseeable future (I use the term foreseeable future to mean 5 years; after that, we make no guarantees or assurances).

We’ve got a great combination of low fare carriers and network carriers that can get you to Boston on a great deal or take you all the way to Beijing if need be. When these 6 carriers, AirTran, Frontier, Delta, US Airways, Northwest, and United, get you anywhere you need to go, why would we want or need another airline? Any other new airline would pretty much just duplicate what we are already doing and hope to do in the future. Six viable, healthy, and growing carriers is our goal at CAK. We are fortunate to have these 6 and really do not see the need for a 7th.
